In reporting this, The Today Show blurred the hand with the middle finger; CNN did not. I find that hilarious.

I never thought I'd see so many blurred lite-brites.

The funniest thing to me is, its such an abstract depiction of the middle finger. Unless you know that's what it's doing, and the significance of the middle finger, you'd never get that from that row of lights. So whose eyes is the blur protecting?

As for the difference between CNN & Today -- Today is on network TV, and is subject to FCC rules. CNN is on cable, which isn't bound by the FCC (in the same way, and possibly not at all). CNN won't get fined, but Today's network might. They probably wouldn't, and if they were, they could probably fight it, or pay it without breaking a sweat, but why bother when self-censorship is so easy?

Sigh.
