Bush at 36%

Per Newsweek poll.

The last time Bush saw numbers this bad, he got them from a professor.

I also notice these figures on Sploid: Is your country heading in the right direction? 47% of Iraqis think so; only 26% of Americans.

Oof.

George W. Bush is without doubt, one of the worst presidents this country has ever endured. His administration attempts to cut funding for the most vulnerable citizens in the U.S. (i.e., the attempted budget cuts for food stamps, student loans, medicare, medicaid, etc) while the Republicans continue to pad the coffers of every oil company, credit card company, drug company, and big corporation in this country. The Bush administration could care less about the plight of the average American. It sickens me to think that we have to endure three more years of this farce of a president and his team of incompetent, lying cronies...God help us all

I THINK THAT A GOOD POLLING OUESTION
TO ASK ONLY THOSE WHO VOTED FOR BUSH IN 2004 IS : ARE YOU GLAD THAT YOU VOTED FOR BUSH OR DO WISH THAT YOU HAD NOT VOTED FOR HIM?

I'm just glad that people are reaching this conclusion in time for the November Presidential election, thereby averting a horrible... er... oops.

Anonymous proposed a good polling question, and here's mine: WHICH ISSUE SURROUNDING THE ADMINISTRATION'S CURRENT SCANDALS TROUBLES YOU THE MOST?
A) DISHONESTY (manipulating evidence for war, etc.)
B) INCOMPETENCE (response to post-Katrina crisis, etc.)
C) CRONYISM (Michael Brown, Harriet Miers, etc.)
D) ALL OF THE ABOVE

For the record, I'm voting D.

I agree with your proposed question, Anonymous. But I think that a "Yes, I voted for him and wish I hadn't" reply should be answered with a kick in the face. After all, not one of the things that are wrong with Bush were a secret a year ago. How could people be so stupid?

It's hard for me to say this, Jeri...but I'm willing to cut people a little more slack. Yeah, all the things we know now were apparent to us then. But a lot of the information took a lot of digging to find, either on our own part or on the part of various bloggers and out-of-the-way news sources. For a long while, unless you were looking for information proving Bush's incompetent boobhood, it was tough to find. Now, post-Katrina, post-Miers, mid-Plame, it's everywhere. A lot of people weren't stupid, they were just uninformed.

But some of them were stupid, too.

No. All anyone had to do was watch the guy for two minutes to see what an arrogant, self-serving moron he was. All three debates were watched by record numbers of voters, many of whom still voted for Bush.

To borrow one of his lines, "I looked into his soul," and I saw a vacuum.

But if that's too abstract, let's put it another way:

"Stupid" is letting the president and his pack of pitbulls convince you that a man who volunteered for a dangerous line of combat duty in Vietnam, saved others' lives, and received a Purple Heart, then spent all his years since in public service was somehow less of a patriot than a man who used his family connections to get a posh NG spot, then couldn't even fulfill those duties, then spent the rest of his years partying it up and running one business after another into the ground, playing governor in a state where the office is largely a figurehead, then won his party's nomination by smearing the reputation of an ex-POW, then had his cronies jigger the vote in FL so he could be appointed President, THEN allowed us to be attacked by terrorists, plunged us into an expensive, immoral, and incompetently run war, ran up enormous deficits, shafted the poor and middle class and stood by and cheered while his buddies raped America the Beautiful's wilderness.

Anyone who thought this guy would make a good President, in '00 and especially in '04, is more than misinformed. The most generous term I can think of is willfully ignorant, just like the guy they voted for.

I don't care if John Kerry was a bad candidate. As terrible a President as Bush was in his first term, a drunken marmoset should have beaten him easily, and would have, if voters had taken their heads out of their own asses for two minutes.
