Get Ta Know Me! Again!

Here are my answers to Kalinara’s interview questions. I have to say, I dig this meme.

1. If you were dropped into a superhero or manga universe, would you be good or evil?

I kid myself into thinking I’d be some cool-as-hell antihero like John Constantine or Spider Jerusalem, but I’d almost certainly be a garden-variety good guy -- who gets cranky and cheesed off sometimes.

2. Which superhero costume would you never wear to a Halloween party and why?

Aside from the costumes designed for women (the thought of me in a Star Sapphire costume is enough to give Mogo nightmares), I’d say the discofabulous Cosmic Boy costume. I hope that if I’m ever fit enough to wear it, I’ll have the good sense not to anyway.

3. If you could create a brand new love interest for any hero/heroine, who would you choose?

Beast Boy. He needs to get over Terra and move on. Maybe invert the Terra story – a villain that he surreptitiously gets to betray her allies when the time is right.

4. Could a rainbow themed villain or hero work today?

Probably only if presented in a tongue-and-cheek manner. Then again, as long as you don’t explicitly say or show a rainbow, I imagine one could be treated seriously; I’ve always thought “Dr. Spectrum” was a cool name. But while a spectrum is similar to a rainbow, it’s not quite the same thing.

5. Fish or chips?

Fish. I’m a Barney Miller fan from way back. Ponch and Jon do nothing for me. And I feel the same way about food as I do about 70s cops.

And again, here’s how to participate.

1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."

2. I will respond by asking you five questions. I get to pick the questions. (They probably won't be the same ones you see above!)

3. You will update your blog with the answers to the questions.

4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.

5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

Don’t worry if you don’t know anything about comics – I won’t assume you’re a comic reader – or a superhero comic reader -- when I pick my questions. (If you are, though – fair game!)

Okay, Rob – I’ll mix it up a bit.

1) What movie have you been planning to see for a long while but never get around to?
2) If you could swap a Marvel supervillain to DC and a DC villain to marvel, who would you chose?
3) What’s the best thing ever to come out of Japan?
4) Who got you started in reading comics?
5) Vampires or werewolves?

I need to get some sleep, but I can't seem to wind down. Oh, the joys of tech. Due back at work in nine hours, so I might get six hours' sleep if I don't do this ---

Sure. Interview me.

Just for the hell of it, here're my answers to the questions you posed Rob:

1) What movie have you been planning to see for a long while but never get around to?
Too long a list, actually. The one that stings most at the moment is Grindhouse, which I really wanted to see in a theater.

2) If you could swap a Marvel supervillain to DC and a DC villain to marvel, who would you chose?
Wow. I could stay up all night thinking over this one. Sadly, I must try to sleep.
So here's a non-answer along the lines of the question:
I'd throw Hitman Tommy Monaghan into the Marvel Universe so he could hunt up that Punisher dude and kick his sorry ass.
I'd give Dr. Stephen Strange a weekend pass to visit the DCU and take Zatanna out for a night on the town. Things have been a bit grim for her in the past year, and she needs someone less haunted and conflicted to take her out of herself (not literally). Or has Strange become all dark and twisted recently?
And I'd love to see the softball game between the folks from Checkmate and Nick Fury's team.

3) What’s the best thing ever to come out of Japan?
Gojira. (That's Godzilla to you round-eyes.)

4) Who got you started in reading comics?
I don't know who got me started, but Mister Rob Staeger has kept the fire fueled a number of times it would've sputtered over the years. (I'd originally said something about keeping the pump primed when the enjoyment began to run dry, but that sounded a little filthy. Does it still sound filthy?)

5) Vampires or werewolves?
Werewolves, baby. All the way.
But I expect you already knew that.

OK, Greg, here goes!

1. You've been granted one time-travel jump, then and back. Where do you go, and what do you do?

2. Which supervillain would you most like to date?

3. Do you prefer the term "yeti" or "abominable snowman"?

4. Dark chocolate, milk chocolate, or white chocolate?

5. Pick a movie director and a comic book. Which two would you put together?

Cool! Thanks for playing, Travis!

1) There are lots of superscientific or magical items in comics. What's your favorite?

2) What toppings do you prefer on your pizza?

3) What one writer who hasn't yet written comics would you like to see try his or her hand at it?

4) Movies: What's your favorite sequel?

5) Star Wars or Lord of the Rings?
