M for Moore

There's an feature on Alan Moore about his stormy relationship with DC Comics and Warner Bros. at the New York Times. Read it quick, before it falls behind the NYT's Iron Curtain of Time.

"I am what Harry Potter grew up into," he said, "and it's not a pretty sight."

Yeah, I think I'm going to put myself in the camp of people who can't understand his politics and feelings about his work. He just ends up sounding crazy.

Fact is, his legacy is already published, and selling the rights, or making a movie, even a bad one, doesn't tarnish that.

I feel bad for his illustrators.

I understand why he's mad, but I'm not sure what it gets him. He seems to like using his integrity as a gun -- and aiming dirctly at his own foot.
As for his artists, i think they get his share of the profits from these things. Financially, they do okay, but emotionally it's gotta be bruising.
