oh and by the by. "V" was incredible. that is all.
Very mixed reviews on V. Ebert liked it; Newsweek shredded it. That may mean you have to get it to like it, or you have to get comic books to like it. Either way, it's review-proof for some folks, right, Rob?
Could be. I'm sure some reviewers that looked at it as a critique of the Bush regime weighted it well or poorly either way for that, too. It's really a tough one to judge by reviews.
I know going in that there's no way it will be as good as the book. But I *do* expect to enjoy myself.
But it would be even better if it had snakes in some mode of transportation... say, a plane, perhaps?
what critique of the bush administration? there was this "america's war" sequence and it came and it went. i didn't take it the wrong way and you know where i'm coming from. i thought that they tightened up the story a lot to streamline it and i decided to take a leap of faith on things that were left out of it. but my big problem with the movie that there were no SNAKES! SNAKES ON A GOT DAMN PLANE!
Gonna see it tonight, so I don't know for sure yet. But I've gotta agree with Atrios -- if you watch a critique of a fictional totalitarian govt. and take offense, that says more about you than the movie.
(And man, a moment when you agree with Atrios? I'm gonna take the hands of the clock and broze 'em!)
